[December 19, 2011] The Rules of Golf are changing next year. Beginning in January 2012, you will not be penalized if the wind moves your ball after you have addressed it. To keep up with this, and many other changes, we encourage you to register for our Monday night rules sessions.

The Newfoundland & Labrador Golf Association, in cooperation with Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club, will be conducting rules sessions on Monday nights throughout the winter of 2012. These sessions will begin on Monday, January 9th and will continue until April. Sessions will run from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

NLGA members are eligible to attend these sessions for $35 which includes both “Rules of Golf” and “Decisions on the Rules of Golf” books available at the opening session.

Those candidates interested in Certification will be invited to attend a three–day seminar at the conclusion of these sessions.

[Feb 21, 2010] A rules of golf seminar will be held at “Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club” April 15-18, 2010.

Sessions will commence at 7:30pm Thursday evening (April 15), continue all day Friday and Saturday (8:30am – 5:00pm, April 16&17), and will conclude on Sunday at 1:00pm (April 18). This seminar is sponsored by the Newfoundland and Labrador Golf Association and is open to interested NLGA members. Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in becoming “rated” officials. All candidates will require a “Decisions on the rules of golf” book.

 

Seminar instructors are Bruce Watson, Dave Lawlor and Walter Crotty.The rules of Golf will be covered in detail and candidates will be provided an opportunity to obtain certification at either the Club or Provincial Level. In addition to the workshop sessions, candidates will be required to attend an all day “Practical” session and complete an on course internship in order to be certified “Provincially”.

 

A small Registration fee will cover the cost of mid-day lunches and coffee breaks. This seminar will be of interest, not only to those who have never studied rules before, but also to those of you who are already certified, and wish to either brush up, or re-certify.

Sessions will commence at 7:30pm Thursday evening, continue all day Friday and Saturday (8:30am - 5pm) and conclude on Sunday at 1pm.

This seminar is a member service of the Newfoundland and Labrador Golf Association and is open to interested NLGA members. Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in becoming "rated" officials. All candidates will require a "Decisions on the Rules of Golf" book.

Seminar instructors are Bruce Martin, Dave Lawlor and Walter Crotty. The Rules of Golf will be covered in detail and candidates will be provided an opportunity to obtain certification at either the club or provincial level. In addition to the workshop sessions, candidates will be required to attend an all day "Practical" session in late April or early May in order to become provincially certified.

[Sept 16, 2008] The NLGA, will again be conducting rules seminars on Monday evenings throughout the Fall and Winter. These sessions will be held at Bally Haly and will begin on November 3rd and conclude in late March. All NLGA members are welcome to attend. Candidates interested in certification will be invited to attend a three-day seminar at the conclusion of the sessions……..those interested in learning the rules for their own benefit will also enjoy the seminars. [Sept 16, 2005] Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club, in conjunction with the NLGA, will again be conducting rules seminars on Tuesday evenings throughout the Fall and Winter. These sessions will be held at Bally Haly and will begin in late October and conclude in late March. You're welcome to attend whether you are new to the rules or an old hand. Candidates interested in certification will be invited to attend a three-day seminar at the conclusion of the Tuesday night sessions……..those interested in learning the rules for their own benefit will also enjoy the seminars. [June 29, 2005] The NLGA announced today that the 2005 Men's Amateur, Mid-Amateur and Senior Golf Tournaments are being moved to Gander Golf Club. They had been scheduled originally for Grand Falls. The dates remain unchanged, July 22-24 with a practice round on July 21.

It was also announced that, following Sunday's play, the top 10 scores plus ties in the Men's Amateur only would play an additional 18 holes on Monday to determine the Amateur winner and the 2005 Willingdon Cup team.

Sessions will run from 8:30am to 5:00pm on Friday, continue 8:30am – 5:00pm on Saturday and conclude on Sunday 8:30am- 1:00pm. This seminar is sponsored by the Newfoundland and Labrador Golf Association and is open to interested NLGA members. Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in becoming "rated" officials.
